Two kinds of Bran Castle tour
The words tour and day trip cover two different things. One is the guided visit inside the castle itself, offered in English or Romanian. The other is transport and a programme from a base such as Bucharest or Brașov, usually with other stops on the way. Ticket prices belong to the first; the second adds travel, and what it includes differs by product.
For a day trip, check three things before you book: whether the entry tickets are included, where the pickup is and which languages the guide speaks. Duration, group size and meals are set by each product, so read them one by one. Bran also has its own entry prices, which are on the tickets page.

Dracula tours in Romania: three things to keep apart
The story is easier to enjoy when you know which part is which.
The novel
Bram Stoker published Dracula in 1897. Count Dracula is a character in a book, not a portrait of a real person, and Stoker built the setting from books, maps and tales. The novel does not name Bran.
Dracula and Bram Stoker →The tourist legend
Bran is called Dracula's Castle as a tourist name. The marketing of Bran as the Dracula castle grew with the tourism of the 1960s and 1970s.
Inside the castle →The real ruler
Vlad III, called the Impaler, ruled Wallachia. His link to Bran is weak, and Bran was not a documented residence of his. Poenari is a separate fortress near Căpățâneni in Argeș County.
Vlad the Impaler →At present Poienari can be visited only in organised groups of 15 to 20 people, a precaution after a bear sighting. Its regular programme is daily from 09:00 to 16:00 with the last climb at 15:00, and the group rule can change the routine. Do not plan it as a casual stop.
Transylvania tours beyond Bran
Longer programmes add towns, fortified churches and other castles.
Sighișoara has a historic centre that has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. The fortified churches of Transylvania, seven villages in the UNESCO site including Biertan and Viscri, were inscribed in 1993 and extended in 1999. There is no single shared ticket because of the World Heritage status. Corvin Castle in Hunedoara dates from the 15th to the 17th century and is not the same place as Bran or Poenari. In 2026 its adult ticket is RON 55, with RON 30 for pensioners and RON 15 for pupils and students. Salina Turda charges RON 75 for adults from Monday to Friday and RON 90 at weekends. For the region as a whole, see Transylvania beyond Bran.
If you want to join Bran with a longer route through Romania, think in stages instead of one long day: Bran and Brașov, then Sighișoara or Corvin Castle on another day. The Brașov page covers the base town.
Which trip suits you
A comparison of the usual choices.
| Choice | Good for | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Entry ticket only | Visitors based in Brașov or Bran | Transport is separate |
| Guided visit inside | Visitors who want the story told | English or Romanian only |
| Day trip with Peleș | A first visit to the region | Needs a day when Peleș is open |
| Day trip with Râșnov | A short extra stop | Garden visit only, no castle interior |
| Longer Transylvania programme | Several days in the region | Each site has its own ticket |
For most visitors with only one day, a day trip that combines Bran with Brașov or Peleș on a day when both are open is the simplest choice. If you have more time, give Bran its own morning.
Combining Bran with Peleș and Râșnov
Bran and Peleș have separate tickets. There is no combined ticket for the two. Peleș is open on Wednesday from 10:00 to 17:00 and from Thursday to Sunday from 09:15 to 17:00, and it is closed on Monday and Tuesday. The last individual entry is at 16:00 for Peleș and 16:15 for Pelișor. Cleaning and conservation closures apply in autumn 2026: Pelișor from 28 September to 3 November and Peleș from 2 November to 1 December. Bran is open on Monday from 12:00, so Monday is a Bran day. More on the Peleș Castle page.
Râșnov Fortress is being restored, and what you can visit is the garden, not the whole castle. Read the Râșnov page before you count it as a stop.
Bran Castle tours: frequently asked questions
Is there a guided tour inside Bran Castle?
Yes, a guided visit in English or Romanian is available as a combined ticket with extras. The guided version of the Royal Tour Plus Fast Pass costs RON 210 for adults and RON 150 for children in 2026.
Can I visit Bran and Peleș in one day?
Yes, on a day when Peleș is open, which means Wednesday to Sunday outside its closure periods. The two castles have separate tickets.
Is Râșnov Fortress included in a Bran day trip?
Some day trips stop at Râșnov. The castle is being restored and you can visit the garden, not the whole fortress, so check what the stop gives you.
What is the difference between Bran and Poenari?
Poenari is a separate fortress near Căpățâneni in Argeș County, linked to Vlad III in the Vlad tradition. Bran is a different castle and was not a documented residence of Vlad. For now, Poenari is open to organised groups of 15 to 20 people only.
How do I choose a Transylvania tour?
Check the sites it visits, whether tickets are included and where it starts. Sighișoara, the fortified churches, Corvin Castle and Salina Turda each have their own opening hours and prices.
