Râșnov Fortress: what is open now
The hilltop fortress at Râșnov is being restored, and the part you can visit is the garden. Do not plan a visit to the whole citadel and do not expect the interior to be open. There is no fixed date for the reopening of the interior or for the end of the works, so a trip planned around the full fortress may not work. A garden visit is a shorter and different outing from a castle visit like Bran.
If you searched for the Râșnov citadel because you want a second stop near Bran, it still works as a short garden stop. Treat it as an extra, not as the main part of your day. For the main stop, see the Bran Castle tickets.

Hours and garden entry price
The opening hours follow the season, and the dates of the change are not fixed.
| Season | Opening hours | Tickets |
|---|---|---|
| Summer | 09:00 to 19:00 | At the entrance |
| Winter | 09:00 to 17:00 | At the entrance |
The garden has a small entrance fee. Plan for RON 10 per person over 12 years old, with children under 12 free and card payment only. That is the 2025 price, so confirm the amount at the entrance. Do not count on free entry. If your child is exactly 12, ask at the ticket desk which price applies.
In the dark months the garden closes at 17:00, which is one hour before the winter last entry at Bran Castle.
The inclined lift from Piața Unirii
One way up the hill is the lift.
The inclined lift starts at Piața Unirii 9A. It runs daily from 09:00 to 17:00. Adults from 14 years pay RON 40 for the round trip or RON 25 one way. Children from 3 to 13 years pay RON 30 round trip or RON 20 one way. Prices can change, so ask at the base station before you buy.
The lift gets you uphill, but it does not make the whole fortress accessible. Do not assume step-free access once you are inside the garden or on the hill.

Planning Râșnov with Bran Castle
A short stop, not a full day.
Match the hours
Bran's last entry is 19:00 from 1 April to 1 November and 18:00 from 2 November to 31 March. Râșnov closes at 19:00 in summer and 17:00 in winter, so in winter see Râșnov first and Bran second.
Keep the budget small
The garden fee is low and the lift is extra. Add both to your costs before you decide, and pay for the garden by card.
Add a second stop
A day with Bran Castle and the old town of Brașov fills the time better than a long stay in the garden. If you also want a royal castle, Peleș Castle needs its own day or an early start.
