Halloween in Transylvania: the Bran Castle programme
Halloween at Bran Castle is a programme built around 31 October. It covers the days around that date, with the main parties on 31 October, so check the dates for your year. The castle in the village of Bran, about 30 km from Brașov, is marketed worldwide as Dracula's Castle, and the programme plays with that name. The history behind it is a separate subject, which you can read on the Dracula Castle page.
The programme has daytime visits, evening tours with a party in the park, offers that add dinner or a private party in the castle, and a family day. If you would rather see the castle with a guide outside the event days, compare Bran Castle tours and day trips. During the event, the castle runs no regular guided tours.

Rules for your slot at the Halloween event
- Be early: arrive 15 minutes before your booked slot.
- Use your slot: a ticket is redeemed during the allotted one-hour slot.
- Halloween tickets only: during the programme days, which fall in the days around 31 October, only Halloween tickets apply in place of the standard price. Check the dates for your year.
- Guided tours: no regular guided tours run during the event.
The castle warns about darkness, flash photography, loud noise, cold and slippery stairs. Bring warm clothes and shoes with grip, and keep the flash off.
Day or night: how to choose your Halloween visit
The day visits suit anyone who mainly wants to see the castle in the atmosphere of the event. The evening tour with a party in the park and the later offers are built around music and night-time events, with a late finish. The offer that adds dinner and the private party in the castle sit at the top of the price range.
If your main interest is the history of the building, the days outside the programme are calmer, because the regular guided tours run then. The programme itself is entertainment built on the Dracula name; the real history is on the Bran Castle history page.
